Clifton Observatory Glass Cafe
Set within the historic grounds of Clifton Observatory, this project involved the construction of a contemporary glass cafe extension designed to enchance the visitor experience while preserving the character of its iconic setting.
Lightweight and transparent in form, the glazed structure sits sensitively against the existing stone fabric, creating a clear visual distinction between old and new. Expansive glazing frames allow uninterrupted views across the surrounding landscape, while allowing light to flood the interior.
The interior is defined by light, openness and a material palette that complements the stone architecture. Natural finishes, warm textures, and simple detailing creates a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Carefully considered lighting asnd furniture layouts support both daytime and evening use, balancing functionality with a relaxed cafe setting.
